Grant Transit Authority celebrates 20 years of service

EPHRATA – Grant Transit Authority commemorated 20 years of service on Saturday with a celebration at the Ephrata Amtrak station.

A big part of the celebration was providing information on the new multi-modal transit center under construction in Moses Lake, and the unveiling of the new Grant Transit Authority logo.

The new transit center is expected to be completed next summer, and attendees at Saturday’s celebration were able to see the designs for the new building and learn about services offered in Grant County.

The new transit center will serve as a hub for Grant Transit and other bus lines. It will include passenger amenities such as an enclosed waiting area, public restrooms, customer information, pass sales area, bicycle storage lockers and a taxi drop-off and pick-up area.

In its 20th year, GTA has grown significantly, adding bus service between Soap Lake and Ephrata, and weekend service in the Moses Lake area.

The Ephrata Amtrak station is where Grant Transit first started and it still serves as a transit point for riders in the Quincy and Ephrata areas.
